The exceptionally pretty town of Villefranche-sur-Mer sits just east of Nice and only 6km from Monaco. Along with neighbours Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat, Villefranche forms what is known as the Golden Triangle and is home to some of the most fabulous villas and estates to be found on the Cote d’Azur or anywhere in the world for that matter! The bay of Villefranche is one of the deepest natural harbours in the Mediterranean and with the shelter provided by Cap Ferrat to the east and Mont Boron to the west, makes it a very popular anchorage for yachts of all shapes and sizes. It is not uncommon in July and August to see the area between Villefranche and Cap Ferrat literally carpeted with yachts from the small to the huge, and a couple of gigantic cruise ships thrown in for good measure. But don’t let this put you off. Villefranche is very much the real deal, a gorgeous port town on the Riviera with bags of authenticity and lots to offer all who come here! Villefranche-sur-Mer is a must-see on any Cote d’Azur yacht charter.
