The 68th annual Cannes Film Festival is only ten days away!
From 13-24 May, the eyes of the world will be on the Palais des Festivals and the hotels of La Croisette as stars of the big screen descend on Cannes for what is considered to be the most important annual Film Festival of them all. The Jury this year is headed by Ethan and Joel Coen, directors of such cult classics as “Fargo” and “The Big Lebowski”. It is the first time in the history of Cannes that two people have headed the Jury. They will be joined by seven other jurors to form the customary panel of nine that decide the winner of the prestigious Palme d’Or. For the first time since 2008, there will be no British films in competition.
The hottest ticket in town will as always be the amfAR Gala at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the Cap d’Antibes (where all the stars stay at Cannes!). The event brings together the world of Cinema to raise money to fight AIDS. It is the 22nd time that this fabulous black-tie evening has been held at Cannes and it is the social highlight of the Festival for many, whilst also raising huge amounts of money for such an important cause. The event will take place on Thursday May 21 and this year features music by the likes of Mark Ronson, Imagine Dragons and Mary J Blige.
